It is always best to refer the lead to a licensed professional in the area where the service is requested. While it might sound interesting or romantic to fly to an area where you are not licensed, obtaining information in such a manner is illegal. This is a common issue in Hawaii, where a PI from the mainland gets a client needing work in Hawaii and then flies there to conduct the investigation. Any information obtained in this way is illegal, unethical, and inadmissible in legal proceedings. The first thing I look at when reviewing a defense case is whether the investigator was legally allowed to perform the work required in the jurisdiction where it was performed. Always use a licensed professional in the area where the service is needed. Ive been waiting for my background check through "accurate background" for 3 months now. Entry level job amazon warehouse, clean record, 1 speeding ticket maybe. Everytime i contact them i get the same response "your background check is still pending, nothing is needed from you we will email you when completed, we are at the mercy of a third party government entity". Im about to lose my car and apartment all because of this background check stuck in limbo somewhere. (Ventura county, California)

This is an absolute disaster for small PI companies. Now instead of eliminating records on the website, I have to hire a court runner to visit up to 27 courts. My current candidate has 10 courts that have to be visited. Baxter has "the first case, at each court, will be $25. Each additional case will be $10." That is going to be hundreds of dollars compared to what was possibly just $1 for a search.

I saw a job posting for a position where they would drive to various court houses and retrieve the DOBs from the clerk’s - sounded a little bit suspicious. What do you think?
